GTA VI launches on November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. If you play on PC, the honest answer to "when?" is: nobody outside Rockstar knows. Here is what has actually been said, and what the past tells us.
The short version
- No PC version has been announced. Not a date, not a year, not system requirements.
- Take-Two's CEO has explained why console comes first, and says PC is becoming more important.
- Cloud streaming: Xbox says GTA VI will not stream exclusively on its service, and not to PC.
- History: GTA V reached PC about 19 months after launch, Red Dead Redemption 2 about 13 months.
- Ignore any "early 2027" PC date for now. It is a rumor.
What Take-Two has said
Take-Two's CEO Strauss Zelnick has addressed PC twice this year. In May 2026, he told Bloomberg that Rockstar starts on console to serve its core players, while noting that PC can make up 45 to 50 percent of sales for a big title. In September he said PC is becoming "more and more important" for the company. Neither statement is a commitment to a date.
The official pre-order announcement from June 2026 only names PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
The cloud streaming confusion
On October 6, 2026, The Verge reported that Xbox had secured exclusive cloud streaming rights for GTA VI at launch. A day later, Xbox responded that the game will not be streaming exclusively, and not to PC. So, as of today, there is no official way to play GTA VI on a PC at launch, not even through the cloud.
There is also no announced Game Pass release and no Nintendo Switch 2 version.
What Rockstar's history suggests
| Game | Console release | PC release | Gap |
|---|---|---|---|
| GTA V | September 17, 2013 | April 14, 2015 | about 19 months |
| Red Dead Redemption 2 | October 26, 2018 | November 5, 2019 | about 13 months |
| GTA VI | November 19, 2026 | not announced | ? |
The pattern is clear: Rockstar launches on console, then brings a polished PC version later. If GTA VI follows the Red Dead pattern, that would point to late 2027. That is an estimate based on history, not an announcement.
What PC players can do now
- Wait for an official announcement on the Rockstar Newswire. That is where both earlier PC versions were announced first.
- Do not pre-order anything that claims to be a PC version. There is none.
- Avoid "GTA 6 PC download" sites. They are scams or malware.
Before and after
For PC players, November 19 is not the cut. It is the start of a second, shorter wait. The meme becomes "we got GTA 6 on console before GTA 6 on PC", and the old meme gets one more season.
