Counts every take you generate, not only the ones you keep.
How tokens are counted
Token-billed video models charge by the pixels they render: tokens = width × height × frames per second × seconds ÷ 1024.
A 5-second 720p clip at 24 fps is 1280 × 720 × 24 × 5 ÷ 1024 = 108,000 tokens. At $7 per million tokens that is about 76 cents. Going from 720p to 1080p more than doubles the cost per second, 4K is about nine times 720p.
The calculator uses this formula for every resolution and ratio, and the pixel sizes the models are known to render for 16:9.
Questions
- Is this the official price?
- No. We don't work for any provider. The token formula is the one token-billed video models use, the price per million tokens is yours to enter. The prefilled value is an example from a third-party listing in 2026.
- Why do takes matter so much?
- You pay for every clip you generate, not only for the ones you keep. If you need two tries per usable clip, the real cost is double. Test at a low resolution first and only render the keepers in high resolution.
- Why can my invoice differ by a few percent?
- Providers round the video size to what their model supports, so the pixel count can differ slightly from the plain resolution. Fast, mini or pro tiers also have their own prices.
- Do reference videos cost extra?
- Some providers bill the length of a reference video you feed in on top of the generated length. If you use video input, check how your provider counts it.
